skin care - an investment for a lifetime

omigosh thanx for this, Kris...I agree sunscreen is very important and I am pretty lucky I've started to be more concern about my skin nowadays, so I'm not too late. Too bad I have other things to worry like ACNE which has always been my no.1 enemy T_T

Kris, your review is very helpful, thanks for sharing!
Hi Inan,

I have to thank you for inspiring me to write this. I had been thinking of doing it forever, but our emails made me write it sooner than later.

I think it's great you're starting now to care for your skin. I think I thought seriously about skin when i was around 19 or 20, so pretty close to your age. Hopefully when you find a regime that you like, everything will balance out and acne will be a thing of the past.

:)
Hi Sally, you're welcome :)
Did I tell you? I used to have bad acne in high school, I remember like it was yesterday!
no way....i wouldn't know by just looking at your skin atm..i always thought you're one of those lucky women *I wanna say bit.hes but i don't wanna be rude heheh* who have clear skin all their life!!!

Your skin is sooo smooth! Ann and Yuccyo should share their "Flawless Voxers" throne with you :). Thanks for recommending the Osea cream, but I'm afraid it's way too much for my budget lol. Would you say GoW Lift Me Up Lotion is a nice subs for it? Thanks Kristen!
Oh, and you're very pretty btw :), and have I tell you how flawless your skin is :p??
This is the kind of post I've been looking for! Thanks for this, it's very informative..I got some GoW products I've been using regularly like the Blue Mallow HA, pineapple hyrdating mist, Melissa hydrosol, anti-puffy eye gel, but I've yet to use Vit. c serum. Thanks for the heads up on Devita. I use Tazorac (a prescription-strength retinoid), so I'm covered on that one. Like you, I also use spf55 or higher. If you have time, do tell us your skin care regimen; your skin looks great!

Thanks for sharing this! I never tried vitamin c , but from your post I must get one of those in no time, wow.... and about sunscreen, I thought MMU would be enough to me, but I would think it again. for oil cleansing, do you wash your face wish soap after using oil? thanks Kristen :)

Yap, I'd like to know subs for the Osea cream as well.

Inan-- LOL. i know girls you're talking about, i am not one them!
Hi Vely! I think the GoW lift me up is really great cream. It has a bunch of amazing ingredients for sure. it's different from the Osea in that Osea has algae as the main ingredient (this makes the osea feel tigher too) and a potent ingredient called DHPT or something. I am sure if you got your hands on seamollient and added it in, it would be similar. I admit i using the lift me up lotion more these days as i am trying to stretch the Osea (dead broke here :) ). I would definitely try the lift me up, Markey has it at such a great price.

Ann and Yuccyo have much better skin than me i am sure, my camera doesn't do close ups very well at all. But thank you so much :)

definitely will be doing more skin care post in the future and will try to describe my regime, it's just kinda complicated cause i use different things depending on my mood and how my skin looks. I need to look into a prescription retin-a, i have heard it does amazing things for skin. :)

about the vitamin c, the devita does sting a bit (i have never experienced this with a c serum from other brands), but it may be because i buffed a little too hard yesterday with the new FT. will keep you updated for sure.

if it's a rinse away cleansing oil, i don't use a secondary cleanser because i feel like that would be too much for the skin. i know it's sometimes recommended to do so, but i think it's only when you have super oily skin or feel like you need a second wash. however, if i am doing the OCM with just a carrier oil (like plain jojoba or grapeseed), then i do use a cleanser afterwards.

btw, your skin looks awesome for someone who doesn't use sunscreen under MMU!

Thanks for this post! I love reading everyone's skin regime, and hope maybe I can learn something new. I gravitated towards natural skincare recently when I started breaking out from commercial stuff.

Oh dear, I don't use any sunscreen. :-/ Mainly because I'm allergic to silicones, and zinc oxide too, and a zillion other things. And I'm living where the sun shines throughout the year! Nooooooo.....

I have to add, I couldn't help but giggle at how you described La Mer - "crap". I think so too...plus with the hefty price tag, omg, it's insane. Even The Body Shop and L'Occitane are not exactly *natural*.

Just to add, you have flawless, amazing skin. :)

Hi Sue! I'm glad you found the post informative. I think there are a few sunscreens that use titanium dioxide only. one that comes immediately to mind is Juice Beauty's tinted moisturizer. it comes in tinted and untinted:

there are places with better prices than that site for sure :) . the uva protection for JB is on the low side but combined with MMU i would imagine you get a decent protection.

also, are you certain you are allergic to zinc oxide? I am hoping there is another ingredient you were allergic to and not zinc oxide.

:)

Thanks for your info and how right you are about it being an investment. I didn't start taking good care of my skin until about 12 years ago. I wish I had started younger. The only positive thing about my skin is I have not ever spent any time in the sun and always protected my skin. Two years ago I started using Green Cream and the last few months Renova and now Retin A from a site in Mexico because it is much cheaper than GC. I did get a prescription for Retin A from my Dr. just to be sure it wasn't contraindicated but you do not need a prescription from Mexico. My skin is starting to look younger and I love the glow.

Hi Angel,

I think avoiding the sun is a biggie, so your skin probably looks fab i imagine. I was thinking of going on retin-a but i read on a few sites that it stimulates hair growth so now i am really hesitant. and do you usually get your retin-a from mexmeds? i heard there was some credit card fraud problems with their site.

I haven't noticed any hair growth but I am not very hairy. Just a few chin hairs that go along with my age. Yes, I order from med mex and so far have not had any problems. I will be going on a cruise in Nov. and we stop at Cozumel so I plan on stocking up.
oh a cruise, that sounds so fun :)

I am a little hairy so i get scared but i don't remember anyone complaining on any of my skin forums about hair growth and retin-a so i think it should be ok. please be careful with mexmeds, here is a link to the discussion:
